St. Andrews Presbyterian Church
531 Herbert St., Duncan, BC, V9L 1T2
Acts 20:28 reads, “Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood.” Believing that St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church (Duncan, BC) is a church that God himself has bought, that is to say, recognizing it is His church before it is ours and that our job is to “oversee” the flock he gives us, we joyfully support the role of Children and Youth Coordinator (CYC) and to empower the person in the role to offer welcome and discipleship to those children and youth found within the congregation as well as the broader community.
The CYC will work in a team setting with the Senior Pastor, and other staff, to ensure that we are keeping watch over ourselves and fulfilling the mandate of Acts 2:42, “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”
The CYC will be responsible for co-ordinating part-time staff and volunteers and supporting them as needed to run programs that engage children and youth while trying to foster as multi-generational relationships. This is a program-based position.
It is expected that the CYC would work full time (37.5 hours/week) prioritizing the creation (or selection), and implementation of programs towards this end: to raise up disciples of Jesus Christ who learn to love him and serve the community. Programs must include Messy Church, Jr. Youth group, Sr. Youth Group, Mission Project group, summer VBS or “Wacky Camps,” and may include Pro-D day activities, and an after school tutoring program, Bible studies, leadership studies, or other as seen fit to meet the needs of the children and youth and fostering deepening faith, please see addendum for basic descriptions.
